RUX is a punk rock band created by Won Jong-hee in Korea, 1996.
influenced by punk bands from 70s to late 90s bands such as 'Rancid', 'The Clash', 'Cock Sparrer', 'The Business', 'Dropkick Murphys', 'Crying Nut', 'Nobrain' and more. In 1999, RUX Released their first seven songs on an EP album "I Gotta Go" through their D.I.Y punk rock label "skunk". And came to be known little by little. Based on their own D.I.Y Punk club called "skunkhell".
In 2004, RUX released a full-length album of 25 songs, The album "Where Are We Going?" From this album, RUX began to be complimented by various influential music critics in Korea. And gradually began to appear on air in 2005 at various Korean music festivals, also began appearing on cable television.
In July 2005, Korea's most watched live music TV show called 'MBC Music Camp' brought RUX on stage. On this special event, independant rock bands weren't usually brought up to share the stage with K-pop artists. RUX was featured on stage with 40 fellow punks, friends, supporters. Two of whom unexpectedly took off their pants and jumped nude during their set. From this performance, the two punks were sentenced to jail for 3 month. This was mentioned in the news and broadcasts for several month, and RUX was
announced that they were banned from appearing on MBC TV, permanently.
The band just kept on going, releasing new albums "Another Conception" 2006, "The Ruckus Army" 2007, "Eternal Kids" 2009, and started to re-appear at several rock festivals and other TV shows. But again, Won Jong-hee and RUX members have been accused of stealing meat from a punk gig after party, getting in gang fights in the streets, damaging fancy cars, and people's property. At the same time, released another EP, 2012 "Dirty Brats".
On 2013, Won Jong-hee got married, having a huge rock concert wedding. His wife gave birth to a beautiful baby in 2014, divorced in 2015. Won Jong-hee started 'Badhands tattoo crew' in 2015. RUX kept going with 2016 "Kyuckdong", 2017 "Night of Concrete Zoo", 2018 "Stagger", 2020 "With You" single album. From 2022, RUX came up with their new gig title 'MAZK fest'
(Mu Aha Zi Kyoung - which means Nirvana). And can now see their
performances in various venues in Korea, based on MAZK.
Until now, many Koreans have been branded them as "The notorious criminals who should never get back on public stage." Despite all the fuss and ruckus, RUX had a lot of member changes, Lee Ju-hyun from Galaxy Express, Lee Tae-sun from Gogostars, Animation movie director Lee Dae-hee, Youtuber Park Gun-woo and more were in the band. As of now 2022, band members : Kyo is a powerful drummer known in the hardcore bands 'Hollow Jan' and 'Today x Spot', joined from 2014. Bassist Yoon Tae-yang, long-time supporter of RUX, known as the leader of his ex-band 'Rudy guns' and 'Valiant crew' joined from 2021. Jung Yea-won known as the band leader of 'Rumkicks' playing guitar from 2019.
The band name RUX meaning Ruckus, their main slogan is 'Fight em' back'. Their band logo meaning 'Proud and loud'. Their most listed song being 'From now till the end', their motives are : To never give up, fighting my own weakness.
