Huge "traffic jams" continue to form on the border with Russia in the Orenburg region. The neutral zone between the two countries is simply clogged with transport. People cannot get into either country for several hours and complain about the lack of information and the absence of basic conditions. Leyla Auesova found out what the multi-kilometer traffic jams on the roads are connected with.
There is a transport collapse again on the Kazakh-Russian border, but this time not because of road works. In the north and west of the country, multi-hour "traffic jams" formed at the checkpoints "Mastakovo-Teploe", "Sagarchin-Zhaisan", "Orsk-Alimbet", "Bugristoe-Kairak" and "Petukhovo-Zhanazhol". According to Russian media, the reason for the delays at the border is that new entry rules for foreigners come into force there from today, so the problems affected tourists returning to Orenburg via Kazakhstan.
This is what the border control zone "Mastakovo" looks like now. People have been standing there since yesterday evening - there were about a hundred cars in the queue. Today there are even more. The "traffic jam" included not only trucks, but also cars with children and elderly people in them.
"We are trying to get home to Yekaterinburg. We went with our family to our beloved aunt's anniversary in Kazakhstan. We are traveling with two children, 8 and 13 years old. People in front have been standing for the second, and some for the third day. There are already four rows in front, a self-government system has formed. People will soon run out of gas. Many with children"
"We arrived at the border from Kazakhstan the night before. But we could only get to the middle of the section between the two posts. The line is two rows long - trucks and cars. Many passengers have already left on foot. Drivers are forced to wait with their cars"
"There are no conditions on the section between the checkpoints, including toilets. At the same time, people are not allowed to leave the road, since the territory is guarded. People have run out of water and food. After all, this journey usually takes about 1.5 hours"
According to eyewitnesses, the passage is slow - only a few cars are allowed through per hour. The State Revenue Committee did not answer whether there are any interruptions in the operation of the electronic pass system. The border service for the western region confirmed that "traffic jams" remain at the Zhaisan checkpoint in the Aktobe region. But they are not giving official comments on the causes of the traffic jams. LEILA AUESOVA – CORRESPONDENT
Already towards evening the situation at the Mashtakovo point stabilized, they say that the traffic jams in the direction of Orsk disappeared. But this is only an appearance. According to drivers, the whole problem is that the main "traffic jam" is still concentrated in the neutral zone, while the main flow comes from the Kazakh side, these are cars with license plates from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
