On 27th October 2021, Australia’s Prime Minister announced 100 Australia for ASEAN Scholarships to support emerging ASEAN leaders to study in Australia and advance the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific to mark the establishment of the Australia-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Each ASEAN member state will receive 10 Australia for ASEAN Scholarships.

Applicants are assessed on their professional and personal qualities, academic competence and their potential to impact on one of the four priority areas of cooperation
Applications are strongly encouraged from women, people with disability and marginalised groups.

The priority areas of study are:
Maritime
Connectivity
Economic
and Sustainable Development Cooperation

ASEAN Scholarships are offered for master degree (by coursework or research) at an Australian institution

Scholarships offer generous benefits including:
Full tuition fees
Return air travel
One-off establishment allowance on arrival
Contribution to Living Expenses
Overseas Student Health Cover
Pre-course English fees
Introductory Academic Program
Supplementary academic support
Fieldwork allowance for research students and masters by coursework when needed

Citizens from ASEAN countries can apply. The countries are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar , the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements detailed in the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook, available at DFAT website.

In addition to the eligibility requirements, candidates must also meet the country-specific conditions such as:

Be a citizen of the ASEAN country

Already hold an undergraduate degree

English language proficiency of at least 6.5 in IELTS with no band less than 6.0, English results must be current obtained in the last 2 years from the application closing date.
