In this video, you will be able to see how we attacked the problem of mixing for small speakers, especially when it comes to the low end. This is the trickiest part, to be able to provide a great experience for your listener, even if they listen to your music on small speakers. The low end is mostly the problem in this case because these speakers cannot reproduce the low-end frequencies and they are not heard on phone or laptop speakers.
Do not worry, this video will help you tame this problem and have your low end translate well on small speakers without any bigger problems. Don’t attempt to make a mix sound perfect on small speakers. This is a waste of time, and will often lead to compromises that make things worse. An 808 will never sound massive on a phone. This would defy the laws of physics.
Kick drums equally depend on a boosted low end for emphasis. As a substitute, attempt adding a little bit of distortion to the low end of your kick drum to generate harmonics at higher partials. The upper harmonics create the illusion that the fundamental is definitely heard when there's little or no precise representation of these low frequencies.
