F1 Canada GP Circuit Must Knows! 🇨🇦
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, located on Notre Dame Island in Montreal, Canada, is a 4.361-kilometer-long ribbon of asphalt that pushes the limits of Formula 1 machinery. Inaugurated in 1978, the track's meticulously maintained surface, constantly inspected to meet FIA standards, allows cars to reach speeds close to 300 kilometers per hour on long straights like the back straight. Originally named Circuit Ile Notre Dame, it was renamed after Canadian racing legend Gilles Villeneuve following his tragic death in 1982. Despite its high-speed nature, the circuit boasts a minimal elevation change of only around 5.2 meters between its highest and lowest points. The 14 corners come in all shapes and sizes, from the high-speed chicane complex known as "The Wall" that tests downforce to the slow hairpin demanding sharp braking and pinpoint accuracy. Interestingly, the pit lane is unique in Formula 1, located on a public street that requires temporary closure during race weekends.
