Letterkenny Folk Festival -1969
The first Letterkenny International Folk Festival brings music, song and dance from around the world to Donegal .
For four days the first Letterkenny International Folk Festival played host to international dancers and musicians.
The parade to open the festival saw groups of traditional dancers and musicians from many different countries take to the streets of Letterkenny. Crowds lined the streets to see dancers from Poland, England, Scotland and Wales among the industrial floats advertising local businesses.
The festival opening carried out by Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen attracted crowds to Market Square in the town. This was followed by a reception at the Ballyraine Hotel
