FTX Founder's Emphasis on Charity Criticized as Ineffective "Impact Washing"
Sam Bankman-Fried is a well-known figure in the world of cryptocurrency. He led one of the biggest derivative cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, but he has also been charged with eight counts of money laundering and financial and elections fraud. These charges carry a possible penalty of 115 years in prison, to which Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty.
However, in addition to his involvement in cryptocurrency, many people also know him for being an effective altruist. Effective altruism is a philosophical and social movement that applies reason and evidence to determine and act upon the most effective ways to benefit others.
But is altruism always what it seems?
