Practicing speech sounds at home is so important for children who are working on correcting a speech sound disorder. Home practice is one of the best ways to help a child make quick progress to meet their therapy goals. However, so often children who are willing to work well for their speech therapist refuse to work on sounds at home. 1. Be sure to use appropriate targets
2. Remember that you are the parent and you are in charge
3. Keep practice sessions short but consistent
4. Make it fun
5. Provide additional motivation if needed
