How to execute Linux Commands on Cisco IOS

A neat feature of Cisco IOS and IOS-XE is the ability to enable Linux shell functions and commands. This works on both IOS and IOS-XE (which is Linux underneath anyways). To enable shell processing globally, login to your Cisco router or switch and then run the below command from config mode:
Switch(config)#shell processing full

You can run amazing Linux commands such as grep, line numbers, scripts and more on Cisco IOS! And without a Linux shell! Just run these directly on Classic Cisco IOS switches and routers! Use grep, man, head, tail, cat and many other Linux commands directly on Cisco IOS.
