How did one remark of a poor woman in 1911, in her squalid London bedroom, change the course of childbirth? English doctor, Grantly Dick-Read, wrote 'Childbirth Without Fear' in 1942 in which he describes how one nameless woman in London inspired him to stand against his peers and find out the truth about natural birth. His work led to the scientific discovery of hormones, the concept of 'Hypnobirthing' and the founding of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) in Britain.
