In this video we're going to look at recording audio from your computer.
we'll be using Quicktime to record, since everyone has it on their mac.
But remember: the same principles apply no matter what app you are using to record with.
If you havn't done so already, its worth your time to learn about
SWB Audio Capture, which is the virtual audio driver used by SWB Audio App. That's the bit that makes recording of the audio possible.
see: • What is SWB Audio Capture
OK. You did that right? Right? :)
Lets go!
To route any audio from your mac, your mac needs to play it "to" the SWB Audio Capture driver.
The easiest way to do this is turn on preview in SWB Audio App. That'll make SWB Audio Capture the default output device,
and it'll also preview the audio to your speakers, so you can still hear it.
With that done, go to your recording app of choice. In this example, Quciktime.
Select "SWB Audio Capture" as the INPUT device... think of this as a "microphone for your computer".
I know it can be a bit confusing hearing me say "SWB Audio Capture" as both output & input. That's why the video linked above is useful.
anyway...
Here I'm going to play some random music from YouTube; so you can hear it.
Then I'm going to press record....
Lets wait a few seconds. OK. That should do it.
I'll press stop to finish my recording; and also pause the audio so you can hear me.
Let me playback what QuickTime recorded; so you can see it worked.
...
And. Done.
The key parts to remember:
1. Audio you want to record using SWB Audio Capture must first be played TO the SWB Audio Capture virtual driver.
Here; we used SWB Audio App to both:
set "SWB Audio Capture" the default audio output device
route the audio so we could hear it.
The important part; at least with regard to recording audio, is the first part. We made SWB Audio Capture the default so thats where all audio on the mac went.
2. You want to record FROM "SWB Audio Capture" - sort of like a microphone.
With that, have fun using the app & driver.
I hope it's going to be useful to you.
