This two part series will build your community’s capacity to implement community benefit and economic development projects using brownfield grants. It is an opportunity for participants to learn the basics of brownfields, and gain more in depth knowledge into the roadmap for revitalization. The first portion of the workshop will define brownfields; discuss why we have so many brownfield sites; an overview of the brownfield assessment, remediation, and revitalization processes; examples of sites that have been successfully reused; and information on the free assistance that the Technical Assistance to Brownfield Communities Program (TAB) can provide to leverage state and federal programs to support brownfield-impacted communities. The workshop will then move into critical topics including: developing a roadmap for reuse, envisioning the cleanup to build up process with community stakeholders, integrating brownfields reuse into planning for sustainable communities and funding/financing. Interactive questions and answers will enhance the participant’s experience and capacity building.
