Why does nobody mention that this book is mostly toilet humour and dick jokes? Limited appeal to all but younger men looking for a challenge. It's hardly rocket science. Oh wait... Gravity's Rainbow is a true test of playfulness that my friends passed better than I did.

Thomas Pynchon worked on the BOMARC missile, and that likely inspired this ridiculously paranoid story about nuclear warfare and erections. It's definitely for male readers, older guys wanting to read fiction normally read Pynchon, simply because the violence and slapstick are quite aggressive and silly at times. One really must be able to take a joke to get through this, it is playful and demanding. Gravity's Rainbow national book award, I included a speech taken from another video in case that one is lost, so the internet has a record of it. It's also useful to know Irwin Corey stood in for Pynchon, he embodies the funny insanity of Thomas Pynchon's novels. Hopefully this video serves as a good introduction and summary of why people talk about Gravity's Rainbow, and why it is ok if you don't llke it, because it is really just a big joke. Gravity's Rainbow is a male rite of passage in my opinion, it is the literary equivalent of frat hazing at colleges.
See the youtube channel called TheBookChemist for a more in-depth survey and fanaticism about Pynchon, I don't think I like Pynchon's writing enough to try to make sense of its finer details!
