In this first video in the Staying Strong and Healthy video series, Dreu White, exercise physiologist at KU Medical Center, sheds light on the critical role of exercise in prostate cancer management.
1. ADT Treatment: Men undergoing androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer face side effects like weight gain, muscle loss, and fatigue. Regular exercise can mitigate these effects and enhance overall quality of life.
2. 150 Minutes a Week: Prostate cancer patients should aim for a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week (approximately 22 minutes daily).
3. Resistance Training: Incorporate resistance exercises at least three nonconsecutive days a week. Resistance bands and simple home exercises can make a significant difference.
4. Talk to Your Care Provider: Every Batman needs a Robin. Talk to your care team if you have any questions.
5. Discover practical exercises you can do at home in the Staying Strong and Healthy app and video series. Let’s prioritize health together!
