Berklee's Open Music Initiative, in collaboration with Intel, TiVo, the Inter-American Development Bank, IDEO and the MIT Media Lab, convened academia, tech companies, record labels, and artists to tackle creator compensation and attribution issues through the development of emerging technology products such as blockchain. This video explains the fundamental concepts on which the Open Music Initiative is built, showcases learnings from the 2017 Open Music Summer Lab, and highlights the experiences of Caribbean musicians, providing feedback on real-world applications of the prototypes, while gaining training and insight on intellectual property and commercialization strategies.
