Alpha Four is a body percussion piece written by Jim Solomon.

This is a fun piece to teach elementary kids. They can try it with their hands and feet (like how this video shows it), or do the same rhythms with instruments.

This is also a great video for showing kids how quarter notes and eighth notes relate to the beat. If you're a music teacher with kids surrounded by computers (but not ipads- this is a flash program, sorry), check out this link below. It's an interactive drag and drop program for connecting the dance moves to notation. So check it out- I haven't figured out how to get it to register right or wrong answers yet, but it's still fun to use:
