Mean Machine is the eighth studio album by German rock band Lucifer’s Friend, released in 1981 on Elektra (in the US) and Vertigo (in Europe), marking John Lawton’s return from Uriah Heep. This was the last of the main period of Lucifer’s Friend albums, before disbanding and making a return in later years for 1994’s Sumogrip as Lucifer's Friend ‘II’, and 2016’s Too Late to Hate. It was reissued on CD in Japan in 1997, and then again in Germany with 9 bonus tracks in 2011.
