Grove Street, 21 Years Later - A Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Retrospective
The success 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III took developer Rockstar North and parent company Take Two Interactive by surprise. They knew they had something special with GTA III, but the massive, mainstream success wasn’t on the first print of their internal bingo card. Immediately after the release of the third installment, development began on the next entry in the franchise, Vice City. Bigger, better and bolder in every way, Vice City was somehow created, from stem to stern and shipped to retailers, inside of one year. With San Andreas, development time would be doubled. The scope of the setting would be multiplied by five times. And the state of Grand Theft Auto... would never be the same.
