Step into the lush and vibrant world of the world's oldest tropical rainforests, a place often overlooked and unknown to many.
From exotic wildlife to towering trees, this is a chance to experience nature's beauty like never before. We'll also delve into the rich culture and history of these rainforests, and explore the best ways to experience their beauty for yourself
In this video, we will talk about the Wet Tropics of Queensland, Australia.
And yes, the Wet Tropics was James Cameron’s inspiration behind the world of Avatar.
Dylan Cole, the designer in Avatar used the photos he had taken, to design the jungle over-views of Pandora.
The Wet Tropics is a World Heritage site that is home to the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforests on Earth.
Covering an area of approximately 9000 square km, the region is known for its high levels of biodiversity and is home to many species of plants and animals that are found nowhere else in the world.
In this particular video, we will only focus on the Barron Gorge National Park, which is famous for stunning waterfalls and the scenic Barron Gorge.
So, how can one visit the Barron Gorge National Park?
The park can be reached by car or public transportation, and then explored via the walking trails.
However, most tourists don’t wish to drive by themselves and prefer either a tour company or an all-inclusive alternative.
For a unique and scenic experience, consider the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Kuranda Scenic Railway.
Skyrail Cableway is a scenic cable car that offers spectacular views of the rainforest canopy, the Barron Gorge, and the Coral Sea.
One end of it is at Smithfield near Cairns and the other is in the village of Kuranda.
And the Kuranda Scenic Railway is a historic railway that passes through the Barron Gorge National Park offering a scenic and memorable experience for visitors to the region.
You can either take the cableway for both the UP and DOWN journeys or include the train in one of the legs.
We took the cableway from Smithfield to Kuranda and then took the train back to Cairns.
All the bookings for this experience can be booked from the official Skyrail website, which includes hotel pick-up from downtown Cairns.
In this video, we will break down our 1-day journey, showing the mesmerizing views of the tropical rainforests, the Kuranda village, and the journey back to Cairns via the Scenic Railway.
