I built an additional ringer for the phone for an elderly person. The ringer is designed to be placed near the TV, and is connected via a wireless (WiFi) connection to a sensor on the base of the phone, which detects when a call comes in to trigger the ringer. This additional ringer is ideal for people who have hearing problems, because in addition to a buzzer it also has LEDs that flash, so they can immediately see when the phone rings even when they are watching TV at high volume, for example.
This project was also a good opportunity to experiment with WiFi communication between two ESP8266 boards using the ESP-NOW library, also doing tests on the range of the connection.
