HMS DEFENDER Fires PHALANX Close-In Weapon System (CIWS)
Type 45 destroyer HMS DEFENDER has been continuing her sea trials this week, testing the Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS). This short video shows the ship practicing a towed-target exercise with a Falcon aircraft. The aircraft towed a small target on a very long cable as it flew over the ship, which the Phalanx then shot down.
