One of the first lessons for those wanting to start playing the keyboard is learning to read numbers.
Symbols representing the notes and accidents must be memorized by the guitarist to facilitate learning.
We will list below some symbols:
Major chords - are the letters from A to G, representing the chords:
A - La
B - Si
C - From
D - D
E - Mi
F - Fa
G - Sol
- Pound - This symbol represents a note played a semi-tone up note.
Example C #, D #
Note: Notes E # and B # are not represented as well, because, as the musical scale, the Fa note (F) is a semi-tone above the Mi (E) and the C (C) a semi-tone higher than Si ( B)
b - B flat - This symbol represents a note played one semitone below the note
Example: Eb, Gb
Note: Similarly to the pound, the Cb and Fb notes are not represented as well, because, as the musical scale, the Mi note (E) is a semi-tone below the Fa (F) and Si (B) a semi -tom below the (C)
m - Lower - represents the chord should be played in a smaller form
Example Dm, Bm
Example: D7 + F9 +
Numbers - Some numbers represent the chord must be played with an accident, as the seventh or the ninth
Example: E7 F # 9
No. - Miniature - This symbol indicates that the chord is to be played in their reduced form
Example: C °, F # º
