The 2024 Ballon d'Or Winner will be announced on Monday 28th October 2024. Real Madrid and Brazil forward Vinicius Jr. was set to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or, but it turns out that none of the Real Madrid players and staff travelled to the Ballon d'Or ceremony as no Real Madrid player will win it. Jude Bellingham was the favourite to come 2nd in the Ballon d'Or, but he came 3rd, while Vinicius Jr. came 2nd. Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or. Both Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham played on 26th October as Real Madrid were humiliated 4-0 by Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kylian Mbappé, who is also nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, also played for Real Madrid. Barcelona won 4-0 after goals from Raphina, Lamine Yamal and 2 goals from Robert Lewandowski. Robert Lewandowski also finished runner-up in a very controversial Ballon d'Or to Lionel Messi in 2021. Erling Haaland, who scored 2 goals for Manchester City in the Champions League as they beat Sparta Prague 5-0 in the Etihad on 23rd October, also finished 2nd to Messi in the Ballon d'Or. Lionel Messi, who played in Inter Miami's 2-1 win over Atlanta United where his former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez both scored, is currently the holder of the Ballon d'Or. However, this is the first year since 2003 where neither Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo have been nominated for the ballon d'Or. Ronaldo, who didn't play in Al-Nassr's 3-3 draw away at Al-Khalood, and has been trending as people say he was right about what he said on the Piers Morgan interview as Erik Ten Hag has been sacked by Manchester United, has also finished runner-up before, as did Messi.
