Eight years after the events of the first movie, in the run-down suburbs of Detroit, Norman Nordstrom (Stephen Lang), his 11-year-old daughter Phoenix (Madelyn Grace), and his pet Rottweiler Shadow live in relative alone. Phoenix is informed by Norman that her mother perished in the fire that destroyed their previous home.
Hernandez, Norman's friend and former Army Ranger, delivers groceries to him each week (Stephanie Arcila).
