In modern endurance racing, Toyota is a force of nature. They are reigning WEC champions, having won their 5th championship in a row in 2023, and despite a surprise victory by Ferrari at Le Mans last year, Toyota remains one of the most decorated manufacturers to have competed in Sarthe, having won the event 5 times in a row from 2018 to 2022. But things weren’t always so rosy for the Japanese giant.
