Disney/Non Crossover-Anastasia & Esmeralda(Diary of Jane)
STORYLINE:
The story is set in an imaginary city(a Paris/ St Petersburg), ruled by the Princess Regent Anastasia and her prime minister, the cruel Claude Frollo. Frollo always kept Anastasia away from her people and in the dark about his way of government; he persecutes the gypsies of Paris with the help of Rasputin, a powerful and wicked monk.
One day Esmeralda, a gypsy, gets in the palace of government and there finds Anastasia to whom tells about the ministers oppressions. Esmeralda runs away and Anastasia, shocked, asks for explanations. Frollo denies to know anything about that but the princess wants to see things clear so reaches the Court of Miracles dressed like a pauper, to understand how's the real situation and how her people really lives; for the very first time she could have a real contact with them. Esmeralda is surprised by Anastasias decision but glad of having her near and of discovering how the princess is actually caring for her people.
So Anastasia sees what she never saw: death, poverty, destruction, harassment. But when she passes her time with the gypsies she's happy like she's never been, and the feeling between her and Esmeralda grows: meanwhile, she starts putting under strain Frollo, having the proofs of his bad actions.
But one day during a roundup Frollo sees Anstasia run away and hold her to ransom: the law says that for what the princess has done she should be deposed and replaced as Regent by the Prime Minister. If Frollo has full powers, that would be the end of Paris and so she can't help, she has to let him be and has to renounce to Esmeralda and her tryouts to help the gypsies. She can't explain the real situation to Esmeralda, that feels betrayed and abandoned.
Frollo, now free to act, captures all the Courts gypsyes and decides to start their extermination from Esmeralda, the one who opened Anastasias eyes. But the princess cannot accept this and runs to Notre Dame, to try to stop that. She's blocked on the bridge Petit Pont by Rasputin; she fights and shows no fear. The view of the princess-always seemed so far from her people-risking her life for the outcasts, sparks off a rebellion: Esmeralda and the gypsies are set free, Anastasia kills Rasputin and Frollo dies in the fight.
A new day rises on Paris, for Anastasia, Esmeralda, and their people.
