Join Tonya Todd and I as we discuss some important topics in a healthy way.
Tonya is a young woman who wears many hats. One of the things she is currently working on is helping people understand race through a different lens. She says, “My look is ethnically ambiguous. I’m not white enough. I’m not black enough. If they’re looking for a family role, I don’t fit neatly into that package. So I’ve had to accept that I’m not usually what anyone is picturing when they write a part.”
She writes and teaches authors how to write diverse characters rather than defaulting to the stereotypes that they think they “know.”
