Mike Epps Buying Back The Block, Doing Gentrification the Right Way & Bringing Aboard HGTV
Salute to Mike Epps and his wife, Kyra. They are doing it in Indianapolis! He and his wife went and bought six or more homes with his own paycheck over a period of time. He decided to just buy a house here, buy a house there until he owned most of the block he grew up in. One of the homes he revitalized was for his grandmother as I understand it.
We complain about gentrification. Nothing is wrong with gentrification. Gentrification simply means "a move in the middle class values," and we want that. We want homes and values to come up; we just want it to include us but not replace us when it happens. I like people who do things, and Mike Epps did it. He and his wife went and bought these properties, slowly invested here and there, and then got HGTV inspired and involved them in a new program called Buying Back The Block. They did It!
