I decided to re-upload the video, but this time I rendered it in HDR (rec 2100 PQ; 75 Mbps) instead of rec 709 (SDR). I did color grade it differently, but I decided to leave the rest of it the same. There were some pacing and audio changes I wanted to make, but I thought this would be a better comparison between sdr and hdr for those who are interested in buying this camera. Although I could have exported this at 160+ Mbps, there's very little to be gained in quality beyond 75 Mbps. Also, YT compresses videos, and they recommend 66 Mbps or something for 4k24p HDR. On top of that, exporting at 160 Mbps takes more than twice as long. I can do a higher bitrate export and share it through google drive if anyone is interested. Just let me know in the comments.
All of this was shot on the Canon R50 in 4K HDR PQ at 24 fps. Every shot except the last one were done using the 50mm F1.8. The last shot was done using the 18-45mm kit lens (sold along with the camera as a "kit"). The microphone used is the Takstar SGC600. I hope this gives you a good idea of the performance of the camera, and that you found it helpful. Thanks for checking out my video.
I'm currently working on a longer film, but I'm still writing story and dialogue, so it's gonna be a while, but I hope you'll come back and check it out once it's up. It will also be recorded using the Canon R50, but I'll be using a Meike 35mm T2.2 lens along with the ones I used for this video.
Here's the SDR version of this video:
