Here are my favourite summer holiday activities for when you need to get on with something important but want the kids actively entertained. They all require low effort on the part of the caregiver, which is ideal when energy levels are running low! Apart from going to the woods. Mind you, once you’re AT the woods you can get your book out, sit on a log and… wait for someone to start crying that they’ve got a splinter. Which will inevitably be after about twenty seconds.
This video contains an AD for Sky Kids who are running their At Home Summer Camp. Sky Kids has over 5000 shows and quizzes covering everything from entertainment to fitness and music to drawing. It’s designed to keep kids actively engaged and doing creative stuff rather than just sitting inert in front of the telly. (Though there’s room for that too, when you’re in desperate need of some peace and quiet!)
To access the content just use your Sky Glass or Sky Q and say “Summer Fun Has Just Begun”. Sky Kids has family controls so that you can set age limits and screen time and stop kids from messing with the settings. They’ve thought of just about everything….just add snacks.
