Today we're at College Park, the smallest station on Caltrain's system, to do some more railfanning. While we're here we'll see the EMD F40PH-2CAT and MPI MP36PH-3C diesel locomotives coming and going with Limited Stop and Baby Bullet services.
As a special bonus, we'll also see one of Caltrain's two MP15DC switchers preparing the consist for a special train excursion.
College Park station is located between Santa Clara and San Jose, which makes it relatively close to the southern end of the Caltrain line. In real life the station is served by just four trains a day, with no weekend service. The station's primary purpose is to serve the nearby Bellarmine College Prepatory school.
The Peninsula Corridor route in Train Sim World 2 is set either in 2018 or 2019, a few years before the Caltrain electrification work commenced. If you go to College Park station today, you'll see that catenary wires and masts have now been installed on the railway line through the area.
One last thing worth mentioning; in real life this section between Santa Clara and San Jose isn't just served by Caltrain, as they share this section with the Altamont Corridor Express and two Amtrak trains; Capitol Corridor and Coast Starlight.
