F35 USS America Flight Ops
SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 21, 2020) Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) conducts flight operations with aircraft assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
(Feb. 26, 2020) GULF OF THAILAND Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) conducts flight operations with an F-35B Lightning II fighter aircraft assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Reinforced) and an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to the “Island Knights” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 during Exercise Cobra Gold 2020 Feb. 26, 2020. The America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team are participating in Exercise Cobra Gold 2020, the largest Theater Security Cooperation exercise in the Indo-Pacific region and an integral part of the U.S. Commitment to strengthen engagement in the region.
