I had the chance to join a fun walking tour at Downtown San Francisco. The tour is called Original San Francisco Walking Tour with the energetic and friendly tour guide Britt from Guru Walk. This is actually a free walking tour but participants are encouraged to donate to help the organization thrive.

Britt is very knowledgeable as he’s been a lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The walking tour covered so much, from the earliest history of the 1700s to the Wild West of the 1800s, the growth (and destruction) of the city in the 1900s, to the skyscrapers of today. We walked through Chinatown, North Beach/Little Italy, and the Financial District.

The walking tour started at Union Square, near the corner of Geary Street & Powell Street in the heart of the city. We wandered through the streets and hidden alleyways of downtown history, and heard all the fascinating tales along the way until we finished at the modern Transamerica Pyramid, at the intersection of Washington Street & Sansome Street.

Joining this walking tour is a must whether you’re just visiting or a local. If you want to book or learn more about this tour, you can visit them at guruwalk dot com.
