What's Next after Cloud Computing?
On-premise and cloud computing are both ways to run applications and support business operations, but they differ in several key ways:
Location
On-premise computing is located within an organization's physical office, while cloud computing is hosted offsite on the server of a cloud provider.
Control
On-premise data centers, also known as "on-prem," give you full control of your infrastructure. Cloud computing, however, involves leasing data center resources from a third-party service provider.
Scalability
Cloud computing is scalable, so organizations can use as much compute power, storage, and services as they need at any given time. On-premises resources, on the other hand, offer finite storage and compute power.
Pricing model
Cloud resources use either a subscription-based or usage-based pricing model, while on-premises software often uses a licensing model.
Security
On-premise computing may offer more security than cloud computing, which stores information in the cloud.
