We used Blue Car Rental to reserve a vehicle for our Iceland travels. Blue Car Rental offers much lower rates with many insurance types included compared to standard car rental companies.

We wrote a detailed travel guide with our complete itinerary for Iceland ring road travels, including Iceland ring road map with landmarks we visited, places we stayed, car we rented, total travel cost (food, car rental, hotels, car gas), how we paid for things and much more. You can read it at: https://blokhinfilms.com/2023/02/09/i...

This travel guide video shows you our 6 day travel itinerary for driving Iceland’s Ring road (Route 1). If you do not count day 6 we spent exploring Reykjavík, you can potentially complete Iceland ring road in 5 days.

Blue Car Rental is Iceland's largest local car rental company offering the newest vehicle fleet, unlimited mileage, free cancellation and very affordable rates that include such insurance as SCDW, CDW, theft and gravel protection. They offer discounts for multi-day reservations too. We had very smooth hustle-free experience of renting a car from Blue Car Rental. Our review of them at:    • How to Save Money on Iceland Car Rent...

There were several items we were very glad we prepared ahead of time:
► Waterproof Rain Poncho: https://amzn.to/3NfIUh4. It often rains in Iceland. We took rain ponchos, which helped us when it poured a few days non-stop. This poncho is very lightweight and easy to pack.
► Power Bank Portable Charger by Anker: https://amzn.to/3LgBxmW. Sometimes, we needed to charge out devices and did not have an outlet available. We chose this Anker power bank for its large capacity and ability to get charged by 2 USB inputs, which recharge the power bank 2x faster.
► Travel Outlet Adapter Kit: https://amzn.to/445errH. This is a must have item when traveling abroad. This adapter is ETL listed and was tested to North American safety standards. We avoid buying electronics not UL or ETL tested for safety.
► Free Downloadable Map Phone App: We used Offline Maps Navigation by VirtualMaze (Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... iOS https://apps.apple.com/us/app/offline....
► Car USB Charger for Phones: https://amzn.to/420U25y. Given how much time we spent on Ring road, we opted to have a dedicated car charger for our devices. While rental cars may have USB charging ports, they are sometimes slow to charge.
► Phone Mount for Car: https://amzn.to/3HfDmPQ. In case you don't have one, we highly recommend it for your trip to Iceland. We took our phone mount with us and it saved us a lot of headaches.
► Lightweight Travel Tripod: https://amzn.to/3V812ew. We love traveling and taking photos. Iceland is a photographer paradise with its dramatic landscapes. To capture those views we took a lightweight travel tripod that is compact, but steady enough to withstand winds. We have been using Bonfoto lightweight tripods for 4+ years and they never disappointed us. They offer inexpensive aluminum and higher priced carbon fiber versions. We personally use the carbon fiber version, as it is more weather resistant.
