The state is investing nearly half a million dollars to preserve the Lincoln Historical Site. Located in southern New Mexico, the site is home to some of the state's most significant buildings including the Lincoln County Courthouse which is best known as the location of Billy the Kid's final escape in April 1881. The courthouse is one of six buildings the state's Department of Cultural Affairs says will be part of the preservation project.
