No Thumbs Challenge, from Mattel, is a game for 2-8 players, ages 13+. The game comes with 56 doubled-sided challenge cards, and 8 thumb straps. Thumb straps? What's a thumb strap? It's a rubber device that ties down your own thumbs, and replaces them with colorful new ones. Once strapped in, you and your teammates will have to complete challenges, without using your own actual thumbs. Each team is dealt five cards and chooses three of those cards. The two teams then shuffle those six picked cards together. Lay the 6 cards out in a row and get ready for your relay race. Each team must complete all 6 challenges, alternating players along the way. First team to finish the relay race wins! If you have more than 4 players, teams will need to share the thumbs, removing and strapping them on during the race. Many of the challenges will require common household items like office supplies, coins, and food. It becomes quite clear how much we depend on our opposable thumbs. In No Thumbs Challenge you will quickly see how difficult it is to do things like writing the alphabet, dealing cards, tying your shoe, and shooting a rubberband. And folding a bedsheet? If it's a fitted sheet, that's something I couldn't do with all the thumbs in the world! Some of the challenges are easier than others, but this game isn't just about the challenges - it's about the silliness. All the best party games are about the laughs, and you, your friends and family will have thumbloads of fun. I do think kids younger than 13 can play, and folks with big thumbs like myself might be slightly uncomfortable - but otherwise, I give No Thumbs Challenge 2 thumb's up!
