Photoshop automatically recognizes foreground objects and allows you to sharpen them without altering the background.

Learn how to selectively sharpen an image in Photoshop
Step 1: Select an image
Step 2: Choose Filter - Sharpen - Smart Sharpen from the Menu
Step 3: With Preview selected, adjust the settings to taste
Step 4: Click OK
