It wasn't a problem when Obama did it! And if Obama would have done it, it would have been celebrated. This can be said about basically anything Trump does, Obama did, Obama didn't do and Trump doesn't do.

Everything president Obama did was seen as amazing.
Everything president Trump does is seen as terrible.

Comparing the way in which Western journalists used to cover Obama to the way they are covering Trump right now, is probably the most powerful wake-up call you can get to the reality of journalism today. I hope this video can be that wake-up call.
