"Given that Joy Orbison's only previous outing this year was in collaboration with Ben Vince on Hessle Audio, this first solo EP of 2018 is long overdue. What's an offer this time round is atmospheric, ear-catching diversity. Contrast the slowly pulsing, synthesizer led beat-free bliss of "Tennov6teen" and the outer-space crackle of "Seed", where dystopian analogue tones, hissing white noise and sparse post-dubstep beats rise above mighty sub-bass. Or, for that matter, the rhythmic UK funky influences and rumbling sub of "Coyp", and the glassy-eyed, slow motion warmth of "81b". In other words, it's a hugely enjoyable and well thought-out collection of cuts with the emphasis on enveloping atmosphere."
