Braxat: D&D's Nightmarish Rhino Beetle Ogre Psion
Dark Sun has been the source for all kinds of weird an unbelievable Dungeons and Dragons monsters throughout the years, and this week we are going to take a look at the AD&D Dark Sun release to find inspiration. The Braxat is a massive hulking rhino beetle person with some of the most interesting D&D lore and ecology I've ever seen. Seriously, the braxat is the D&D lore mvp. They may have gotten their start in AD&D/Dark Sun, but they eventually moved to Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition, 3.5, Pathfinder, and even to 4th edition! Now, I have converted them into D&D 5E for your player-smashing pleasure! I proudly present: The Braxat, D&D's most underused sentient monster race.
