When we try too hard, we are often busy with the effort of what we are doing and not the thing itself. Trying to hard is the enemy of creativity. Creativity requires us to walk a thin line between wanting to do something enough that we put hours of work into it and, while we are doing the work, not trying too hard to achieve a specific outcome. It’s a crazy balance.
Thanks for watching this video. As promised, here’s something you can try at home to get to grips with this information.

Exercise:
Identify a task or project you are working on
Now, instead of focusing on the goal or the outcome, focus on the process.
Concentrate on finding ways of enjoying the actual process of working through this idea
Experiment with different ways of reaching your outcome, see which method is the most enjoyable
Give yourself permission to just be in the moment, focused only on the current step of the process and then the step after that.

Further study:
The concept discussed in this video has become referred to be as being in flow… so why not get yourself a copy of THE book about flow from Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
