Recording electric guitar at home alone can be tricky. Performing, adjusting amp settings, and microphone position can make the process much more difficult. The best way to record electric guitar alone is with a reamping technique. The guitar is first recorded direct, along with an amp sound to make sure that the performance is good. The direct signal is then sent back out to a guitar amp at an instrument level instead of a line level. The guitar amp plays the signal as if it were the original guitar performance, and the final sound can be picked up by a microphone and recorded as usual. This technique allows for as much editing control of the final guitar tone as you would like, all while not having the guitar in your hand.
