Don Covay served as a vital inspiration for Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger's vocal style. I Was Checkin' Out was one of Don's biggest hits of the 1970s, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Soul Singles chart in 1973. This is the alternate version culled from his greatest hits cd, "Checkin In With Don Copay." Shared for historical reference.
