in this video we analyze woocommerce wordpress vs shopify and compare the 2 based on a long experience of using both based on 6 factors, we talk about difficulty, reliability, speed, customisation cost and close with SEO

in terms of difficulty WordPress was more difficult to manage and set up and in some aspects you need help of freelancers to get the result you want, Shopify was more like an iPhone experience where everything is set up and easy to identify most of the set up you can on your own

in terms of reliability, the problem with WordPress is that it relies on external hosting and a lot of the speed and service issues depend on your hosting, in general WordPress was less reliable than Shopify because of this reason, as the hosting is done by Shopify itself, the website was never down or faced a downtime

in terms of speed, Shopify is way faster because again the hosting is done internally and most of the applications are from within the native Shopify store, so overall in terms of speed Shopify is a clear winner

in terms of customisations, the WordPress / woocommerce website is highly customisable, and I was able to do all the customisation works that I expected and more, although you might not be able to do it on your own it is way more customisable, the biggest issue I faced with Shopify customisation is the currency limitation, immediately the currency is linked to your main currency of the store, so the transactions will always close with your local currency

in terms of cost WordPress is defiantly cheaper to run, might take you a bit more to set up but there is no percentage of the sales there is no monthly subscription so WordPress woocommerce is for sure the cheaper option to run

if we look at SEO due to Shopify being very similar to other websites, your ability to do SEO is more restricted and it is more difficult to rank on google with a Shopify website than with a WordPress website

I hope the information is sufficient to help you make the right choice for your e-commerce journey ahead!
