The Top 20 K-Pop Artists of 2017 [Half-Year Ranking] is based on the points a song gains over its time on our weekly Top 50 K-Pop Songs Chart. Here is how we determined the ranking.

1. Each week, a song receives points depending on its position on our Top 50 Chart. As fans know, a song can only spend 10 weeks on the chart which means hypothetically the most points a single song could possibly get is 500 points.

2. To determine this ranking, each song that a group has released has their points added up in order to see who had the "best-year" in 2017.

3. This ranking is based only on the data we have collected from January (Week 1) to June (Week 4). So over the first 6 months. This means that some groups are still gathering points for songs that have not left the Top 50 Chart yet.

4. Songs that were released this week have not yet charted, such as Blackpink / T-ARA / Mamamoo. That is why they haven't gathered enough points to rank yet.

5. Songs that have the same points have their ties broken by seeing whoever had the lowest position at any given time on the Top 50 Chart. So in the case of B.A.P vs. GOT7, B.A.P had their lowest rank of #9 while GOT7's was #7.

6. This chart will be updated at the end of the year, showing our official ranking of the Top 50 K-Pop Artists of 2017.
