The Amazon Fire TV Recast is a DVR for your television antenna so you can record OTA (over the air) channels for free.
The Recast adds live TV from NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and PBS to your Fire TV, Fire TV Cube and Fire Stick.
Getting prime time networks means lots of free sports like NFL football, NCAA basketball and soccer. You'll be able to record local news and prime time programming too.
This review weighs how the Recast measures up against the best OTA DVRs on the market for cord cutters. I compare the Recast to HDHomeRun tuners (with Plex), SiliconDust DVR service and the Tablo Dual.
The Fire TV Recast can only be used with Fire TV devices, the Echo Show, Fire Tablets and iOS devices. It can’t be used for with a Roku or other streaming devices.
