Low Impact Development (LID) is an engineering and land planning approach that mimicks nature to both slow stormwater runoff and clean stormwater before it enters waterways. Phil Bedient, director of Rice University's Severe Storm Prediction, Education and Evacuation from Disaster (SSPEED) Center in Houston, and Steve Albert, director of land development services at Aguirre & Fields Engineers in Sugar Land, Texas, discuss the benefits of LID, which is the topic of a one-day workshop at Rice Feb. 26, 2013.
