Jurassic World Dominion has become a bit of a controversial film and quite frankly it doesn't surprise me seeing as how each of the Jurassic Park sequels has received similar amounts of hate. However, when it comes to Jurassic World Dominion, every review, video, written piece, or take online is proclaiming it to be one of the worst blockbusters of all time. I simply disagree and honestly don't think people know what they're looking for in a Jurassic Park sequel. Is the new Jurassic Park movie a flawless feat of filmmaking? Absolutely not, it can be messy, overly crowded, and perhaps, a bit convoluted, but what the film has to say about legacy, our environment, and our relationship with it is surprisingly profound. The conclusion to the Jurassic Era (if it is indeed the conclusion) is one packed with b-movie thrills, a modest dose of the familiar, some of Michael Crichton's signature musings, and bold new directions we've yet to see this franchise go before. Simply put, I think Emily Carmichael, Colin Trevorrow, and his vision for Jurassic World Dominion is terribly misunderstood. Truthfully I think Colin Trevorrow is just a misunderstood filmmaker in general. While I won't sit here and begrudge anyone for disliking Jurassic World 3, I do think 2022 has seen far worse films and for what it's worth I find Jurassic World Dominion to be a largely enjoyable entry in the Jurassic Park series.
