The Vietnam War was a landmark conflict of the 20th century between North Vietnam, South Vietnam and the Viet Cong (socialist resistance in the South). It had the direct influence of communist countries like China and the Soviet Union and the United States of America, whose interference until today resonates negatively in the warlike imaginary of the superpower. The Vietnam War shocked the world due to its impacts on civilians and the environment.
In 1973, the Paris Peace Accords were signed, which established a ceasefire in the conflict, with the departure of American troops as one of its guidelines. After the US left the territory, the conflict continued between the Viet Cong and South Vietnam, which, weakened, ended up dominated by the socialist regime of North Vietnam, winner of the war. To this day, the reunited Vietnamese territory suffers from the environmental consequences caused by chemical bombing carried out by the USA.
